“Locals call it Vicky Park, and say it like the name of an old friend.”
About this place
Victoria Park opened in 1845 as London's first public park, created for the crowded East End and often called the People's Park. It covers about 86 hectares and is bordered by the Regent's Canal and the Hertford Union Canal. The park has lakes, formal gardens, a boating lake and a long history of public gatherings and concerts. This photograph shows the park in its everyday calm.
