About this place

The London Eye stands on the South Bank of the Thames, opposite the Houses of Parliament. It opened in 2000 as a temporary millennium attraction and stayed. At 135 metres it was the world's tallest observation wheel when it opened, and one full turn takes about 30 minutes in glass capsules that stay level as the wheel moves. On a clear day the view reaches Windsor Castle, about 25 miles away.
